the end of an era.
Where to start?! HAPPY NEW YEAR, first and foremost, friends! 2014 has rolled around and there are so many novidades that I don't even know where to start. Let's rewind to December. Before setting off for my big northern/holiday adventure, I despidir'ed another set of really great friends, Zach & Carolyn. It really is the end of an era. All of my best friends are truly gone now and I am left alone to fend for myself in this crazy little town in the center of Mozambique. It's ok, though... saying goodbye to so many people over the last few months kinda prepped me for saying bye to Z&C ... I don't pretend to be eloquent enough to describe what they meant to me... I think that in my drunkeness I already thanked them and told them how much I admired them and appreciated their friendship.... they may or may not have thought I was completely pathetic. I hope to one day repay their kindness and generosity... and if not directly to them.... perhaps to some lonely and hungry 20-something-year-old volunteer working out in the bush when I am a fancy ex-pat in Latin America in the coming future.

Z&C, if you're reading this.... I was at Concorde on Wednesday night with a few other PCVs and our usual waiter asked for you guys when we paid the bill. He was like, "a onde estão seus amigos? aquele com a barba" haha. I told him that you guys 'ja saieron!" sad face. I hope you're settling in nicely in the states and eating lots of Mexican food and drinking lots of lagers. Ja falamos...
Alright, moving on. New Year's resolution mapping:
1. What do you want for yourself/your life in the next year?
... to not sit on plastic furniture anymore
2. What is it that you want to offer the world?
... no fucking clue.
3. Who do you want to be?
... a real person
4. What do you want more of in your life?
.... CHEESE! ,... and sex. ahahahahha
5. How might I get there?
.... by getting the fuck out of MOzambique.
LMAO! Ahahahaha. Jk jk. Those were just the first (silly) things that came to mind. In reality, I think I have to think these through a little more... 2014 will be a big year. After all, THIS IS THE YEAR I COME HOME! I can't even fathom what this will be like but I'm sooooo EXCITED! In a few words, I look forward to finishing up strong my last few months of Peace Corps service. It will be a busy 6/7 months considering I am coordinating one of the bigger secondary PCV projects here in MOz, the girls empowerment initiative we call REDES, ANDDDDD.... drumroll please....
...my grant application for my activity book, Aprenda Mais, got approved! I have to make a few corrections, but I will be submitting these in the upcoming week and then we will take it from there! Although I am happy to have conseguir'ed, I am also bracing myself for the shit storm of headaches this can potentially bring my way. Because we all know, nothing comes easy when working in the 3rd world and everything that can go wrong, will probably go wrong. Bring it, MOz! I gooooooot thisssssssss!!!
teehehehe.
