hi friends. Last time I left off, I was ranting about idiot tourist. There's definitely a difference between a traveler and a tourist (insert eye roll), but that rant will have to wait for another day and another entry. Now... where we left off.... I had seen a bit of Zimbabwe and stupidly signed up for a white water rafting trip with the rest of my travel group thinking it was a great way to finish the trip. I was wrong. White water rafting in the Zambezi is dangerous. Do people die? Not many I suppose, but you feel like it the entire time! I remember thinking to myself, "I survived two years in Mozambique ... and then I go and sign up for this shit?!? que pendeja eres !" Throughout the entire trip, all I heard was my mother's voice saying to me " Y QUIEN TE MANDA ?!" (Who sent you to do [something] this [stupid]?) . I swear to you, I heard the voices of my tias in dismay " pero, mija! como se the ocurre ." I also remembered a great quotable ...

In record timing,... I've finally come back to wrap up this blog...  it's been over a year since I landed stateside and while I've been meaning to come back and close this out- time in America moves at the speed of light. Coming home has honestly been the biggest mind f@#% of all time. But, before we get into all that- let me start where I left off... my last few weeks in Mozambique were a blur. Between wrapping up projects, packing, enjoying the last bit of adventures in MOZ with the central crew and just emotionally prepping to leave, I had no time and my blog pretty much just fell off. After COS (close of service) in Maputo, I actually stuck around the city for two weeks... I had opted into an overland trip from Tanzania to Zimbabwe that didn't start until August 13th, so I had time to chill. My last few days in Maputo were filled with lots of food adventures, fish market trips, and making the most of those Indian Ocean sunsets with fancy cocktails from chique ...

I'm an RPCV!

Ahhhh! I am so behind on this blog but here are some pictures of my last few days in Chimoio- enjoying time with meus amigos <3 Close out my projects & Despedir'ed my JUTOS & REDES kids I bought a GOAT!! & then we got him drunk! I moved out! leaving my little cave! My friend, Silvino, cooked up a goat feast for my despedida Saying goodbyes to meus amigos & PC staff :( dance party before hitting the discoteca  last sunset view of the city Leaving Chimoio!  Closing out my service in Maputo Removing myself from the board of PCVs! I'm pretty excited to announce that I have completed my Peace Corps Service and I am now what they call an "RPCV" (Returned Peace Corps Volunteer)! I am still in Mozambique and will be hanging out here for 2 more weeks before setting off on an overland safari tour through Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
